　　The twelfth session of “Afternoon Tea” of Jeme Tienyow Honors College was held on the afternoon of April 22 at Siyuan Time Cafe, Beijing Jiaotong University. In this afternoon tea, Professor Liu Zhiming of the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Control Engineering and the professor Guanke of the School of Electronic and Information Engineering were invited to participate in this themed activity. Teacher representatives from Jeme Tienyow Honors College and more than 40 students participated in this activity. Classmate Yang Yujie from Tianyou 2004 Class served as the moderator of this issue.

　　First of all, Professor Liu Zhiming introduced the theme of this time-high-speed train technology based on the development history of ground transportation. During the sharing process, Professor Liu took the design and construction of the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway by Jeme Tienyow as an example, to introduce the close relationship between China's railway development and the people of Beijing Jiaotong University, and encouraged the students present to devote themselves to the cause of serving the country in transportation. Afterwards, the development of high-speed train technology was introduced in detail in terms of wheel-rail relationship, basic train composition, etc., and ardent expectations for the future breakthrough and innovation of high-speed train technology were put forward to the students.

　　With the topic of "The Times Calls for Talents" and the "ZTE 416 Incident" as a reference, the professor Guanke analyzed the internal and external causes of "The Times Calls for Talents" for the students in detail based on their own experiences. Focusing on the crises and difficulties faced by the industry under the current international situation, our country's emphasis on scientific research talents in colleges and universities, and the learning resources and platforms provided by the school, he encouraged everyone to set an example for their predecessors, cherish the teachers they met in school, carefully learn in every class, and be determined to serve the country with scientific research and to study for scientific and technological self-reliance and national self-reliance.
