Tianyou Afternoon Tea | Jeme Tienyow Honors College Successfully Held the First "Tianyou Afternoon Tea"

  The second “Afternoon Tea” of Jeme Tienyow Honors College was held on the afternoon of October 15 at Siyuan Time Cafe, Beijing Jiaotong University. The two main lecturers invited by the college were Professor Shao Chunfu of the School of Traffic and Transportation and Professor Lu Yang of the School of Computer and Information Technology. College counselors, some head teachers and voluntary students participated in this activity.

  

  

  

  The main lecturer of this "Tianyou Afternoon Tea", Mr. Shao Chunfu, by combining his rich scientific research and practical experience, shared "the connotation of transportation, the situation of transportation and several frontier issues of transportation", and concisely draw up a blueprint for the students in the field of transportation. Based on his wonderful Ph.D. career and scientific research experience, Mr. Lu Yang used 7 phrases: independence, planning, rules, self-confidence, quantitative change, life and execution to share growth suggestions for everyone. After the two teachers shared, the students and the teachers exchanged questions such as "the boundaries of the transportation field, the advantages and characteristics of our school's transportation, the importance of basic subjects, the maximization of the benefits of interdisciplinary, the interest in subjects and the feelings of home and country" and other issues, and further strengthened the students' belief in becoming Ph.D, and further enhanced the students' interest in learning and scientific research. In the end, the college presented special souvenirs to the academic tutors. More than 40 students participated in the activity, and the students expressed that they had gained a lot from the "Tianyou Afternoon Tea".

  

  

  "Tianyou Afternoon Tea" is a special salon activity for Jeme Tienyow Honors College to implement all-staff education. The purpose is to build a relaxed and pleasant exchange and sharing platform for students and tutors, shorten the distance between teachers and students, and let students get in touch with the doctoral-level academic exchange atmosphere in advance, and experience the unique charm of interdisciplinary. Cultivate students' interest in being close to academics and practice, and guide students to self-discovery and independent thinking in the collision of ideas.

  

  

  

  "Tianyou Afternoon Tea" will be held regularly every week, and all academic tutors will be invited to participate as speakers. Each activity invites academic tutors in different fields to share. While inviting experts from inside and outside the school, we will also focus on introducing experts in frontier fields at home and abroad to participate. It aims to collide with the spark of interdisciplinary and light up students' dreams of future technology.

  Jeme Tienyow Honors College will continue to use the Four-link model and the education concept of promoting the all-round development of talents, and continue to explore the road of education and teaching reforms and training model innovations, and strive to train students to become compound talents with family and country feelings, a solid foundation, a passion for academics, and a broad vision.
